Last weekend we traveled to Wrens, GA for Heath's Dad's family "Christmas" get together. They used to get together the Sunday after Christmas and have now changed it to MLK weekend so more people could make it. It was good to see all of Heath's Aunts, Uncles, and "cousins by the dozens" as he used to say. McKenzie loved playing with her cousin Haley and Alexis just soaked up all the attention that she could since she doesn't get any at home. (Yeah, right!)
Yesterday, Heath and I attended Gary Chapman's (author of "The Five Love Languages") Marriage Conference. The girls stayed with Nana. It was great to spend time together reconnecting and learning new things to help enhance our marriage. At the end of the conference they gave away a few prizes and we won the Grand Prize...one night's stay at the Brasstown Valley Resort. I think we'll have to give Nana time to recuperate after having the girls 2 days in a row before we cash in our gift certificate! After the conference Heath and I had a chance to do a little shopping before meeting up with Nana and Papa, the girls, Uncle Russ and Aunt Laura for dinner to celebrate Papa's 60th birthday!
Alexis will be 8 months old tomorrow! She is growing like a weed! She's almost 17lbs now! McKenzie has been having problems with her hearing lately. She failed her hearing test back in April, but we wrote it off as her not understanding what she was supposed to do. After 2 rounds of Strep Throat in 30 days and her hearing problems, we took her back to the pediatrician to get them checked. She failed her hearing test miserably! We go to an ENT on Tuesday for a follow-up. I pray that it is nothing more than excess fluid behind the ear drum. We will update everyone after that appointment. Have a great week!
